Reading the market.

What is the NEPSE index?

The NEPSE index is the Nepal Stock Exchange's main market-capitalisation-weighted index. It tracks the combined value of all listed ordinary shares against a base of 100 set in February 1994, so its daily change tells you how the whole market moved.

What is the difference between the NEPSE, Sensitive and Float indices?

The NEPSE index includes every listed ordinary share. The Sensitive index covers only 'A'-class companies that meet NEPSE's size and liquidity tests. The Float index weights companies by their publicly tradable (free-float) shares rather than all shares, and Sensitive Float applies the same float weighting to the Sensitive group.

What does market breadth mean?

Breadth counts how many scrips rose, fell or stayed flat. When the index rises but most scrips fall, the gain is narrow — a few heavyweights are carrying it. The advance/decline (A/D) ratio above 1 means more scrips gained than lost.

How often is this page updated?

While NEPSE is open (11:00 AM–3:00 PM Nepal time, Sunday to Thursday) prices refresh about every 30 seconds. After the close, the page shows end-of-day figures for the latest trade date.
